Welcome
to Portland State University! This guide was compiled by the Office
of Human Resources to provide a brief overview of many of the services
available to faculty and staff. Phone numbers or other contacts
appear so that you can go directly to the source for more specific
information. The five digit phone numbers are for use on campus
phones. From off campus, you would need to use the prefix 725 before
the last four digits. Many of the resources also provide detailed
information on their web sites, which can often be reached by links
from the main PSU web site (www.pdx.edu).
Your departmental or deans office also can provide information
about campus resources. A listing of campus buildings with street
addresses appears at the end of this guide.
Office of Human Resources
Information
on using the Human Resource Information System, employment, benefits
and medical leave programs, employee records, payroll, classification
and compensation, employee and labor relations, and employee

of the President
Office
of President Daniel Bernstine and Vice Provost and Special Assistant

Office of Finance and Administration
Oversees
Academic and Administrative Information Technology, Human Resources,
Business Affairs, Budget, Safety, and Facilities. 297 Extended

Office of Academic Affairs
OAA
is the central administrative office with responsibility for
the academic programming and policy implementation, support programs
for academic personnel and students, academic fiscal management,
and collective bargaining with faculty unions. 349 Cramer Hall,

Office
of Information Technologies
Acceptable
use policy, banner support, classroom technology support, equipment
checkout, personal faculty web accounts, mailing lists, multimedia
production services, technology consulting and support, support
in creating classroom materials. Help desk is 5-HELP. Instruction
and Research Services is in 18 Smith Center, 5-9100.
Office
of Sustainablilty
The
University appreciates and respects the interdependence of complex
human and ecological systems and is committed to maintaining
and improving their health, balance and diversity.
Telecommunications
A unit
within the Office of Information Technologies, operates as the phone
company for the campus. Information on the voice mail system,
equipment options, use of special equipment such as speaker phones.

Millar
Library
With
a collection of nearly one million volumes, Millar Library is
the largest academic library in the metropolitan area. Information
about collections, services, databases, the catalog, and other
services are listed on the library web site, access through the
general PSU web site. You can check materials out of the library

Scheduling
of Rooms for Campus Events
For
information on space in Smith Center for events sponsored by
PSU and non-PSU entities call the Scheduling Office at 5-8366
or 5-4529. For information on scheduling class rooms in other
campus buildings, call 5-3470.
Campus
Facilities Office
Information
on campus facilties including architectural and engineering services,
maintenance such as painting and carpentry, custodial services,
grounds services, keys and locks, shipping/delivery/ and mail
services, and hazardous waste disposal and environmental safety

Peter
Stott Center
Gym
facilities, mens and womens lockers, information
about using the pool, weight room, handball courts, etc. Faculty
/ Staff can arrange lockers, clothes, and other services. Faculty
and Staff can use the facilities for a monthly fee that can be
set up as a payroll deduction. 5-5110.
PSU
Event Hotline
Call
for information and details on lectures, events, and performances
coming to the campus. 5-2950.
Parking
and Transportation
Parking
permits, regulations, and fees. Information on car pools, Tri-
Met bus passes, special event parking. Neuberger Hall Lobby (windows

Child
Care
Children
of PSU students, faculty, and staff are eligible for enrollment
in the Center. The Center cares for children between the ages
of two and six. There is a waiting list. Call for information.

Employee
Assistance Program
The
University contracts with a private counseling firm to supply
professional counseling. Faculty and staff with half-time or
more appointments and their family members are eligible to use
the counseling service. For questions about eligibility or coverage,
obtain a flyer from the Office of Human Resources or call 5-4926.
Campus
Public Safety
Call
for help in an emergency. Call if a theft or break in has occurred.
Call for consultation on how to better secure University property

Publishes
the PSU Magazine and Currently, the newsletter for

Office
of Institutional Research and Planning
Publishes
the University Fact Book: a wide variety of facts about students

Student
Health Service
Primarily
a health care service for students, but the Health Service makes
flu and allergy shots available to faculty and staff for a fee
and responds to medical emergencies on campus. D4 Neuberger Hall,

Affirmative
Action Office
Information
on University policies and procedures regarding affirmative action,
the Americans with Disabilities Act, prevention of discrimination
and sexual harassment, and other guidelines. 122 Cramer Hall,

The
University Ombuds Office
The
Campus Ombuds Office, under the direction of the Ombudsperson,
provides impartial, objective and confidential assistance to
the campus community, especially in mediating or resolving complaints
or conflicts. Its services are available to all members of the
