Complete a Temporary
Classified Appointment Requistion (new
"computer-friendly" version)
Route form for approval signatures.
If you have indicated on the form that you need
referrals from the temporary clerical pool, HR will contact
you to let you know when the applications are ready for
you to view online through PeopleAdmin.
If
you plan to use a temporary employee agency, please call
the Classified Employment Manager for assistance. In accordance
with Oregon Revised Statutes, PSU will use a qualified
rehabilitative facility (QRF) for this purpose.
Once
you have selected the employee to fill the temporary appointment,
complete the Letter
of Offer. Provide the Letter of Offer and the Terms
and Conditions of Temporary Employment (second page of
the Letter of Offer) to the employee. Route a copy of
the signed Letter of Offer to Human Resources on or before
the employee's first day.
If your temporary employee is new to PSU, they must go
to HR on or before the first date of employment to complete
hire documents.
If your temporary employee is new to PSU, you must also
provide to them PSU policy information, including Sexual
Harassment/Rights and Resolutions, Ethic
Guide for Public Employees, and the Drug-Free
Work Place Policy.
An individual temporary employee cannot exceed 1,040 hours
in a twelve-month period (rolling forward from the first
day of employment). Nor can consecutive temporary employees
be hired to exceed the 1,040 rule. It is the responsibility
of the supervisor/department to monitor hours.
Pay period for temporary employees extend from the 16th
of one month to the 15th of the following month, with
payment on the last business day of the month (i.e., work
from July 16 to August 15 is paid August 31).
The employment "end date" for a temporary employee
is not always "firm"; the duration of employment
may not be known at the time of hire. To insure timely
final pay, it is very important to contact
Human Resourcesr (Alex Crossfield 5-4932 alexc@pdx.edu
or Karen Abbott Yelle 5-4940 yellek@pdx.edu)
as early as possible when the actual last day of work
is known.
