- Grants Development and Support Specialist - Department
of Psychology (.50 FTE)
Research
and the grants to support research are critical to the mission
of the Department of Psychology. The.50 FTE Grants Development
Support position will enable departmental success in getting
grants, and establish mechanisms to assist grantees in managing
selected dimensions of their grant responsibilities.
The
responsibilities will include:

Interact
extensively with faculty to establish and maintain working
knowledge of faculty research interests and activities;

Monitor
and search funding databases for federal agency and
foundation funding announcements, produce and disseminate
to all faculty regular funding opportunities list. Use
working knowledge of faculty research interests to regularly
meet and explore funding possibilities. Establish relationships
across campus that enable discovery of other potentially
relevant funding sources opportunities for collaboration
with faculty from other departments.

Identify
and obtain funded proposals as models for future grant
applications.

Assist
with proposal preparation by collecting biographical
statements from grant applicants, developing boilerplate
information, conducting literature searches, structuring
proposal writing parts of narrative, helping with proposal
preparation and submission, etc.

Develop
budgets that adhere to RFP and funding agency guidelines.

Review
near-ready submissions for their completeness and accuracy
in adherence to specific agency application requirements,
and assure competitive fit with funding agency priorities.

Coordinate
on-line submissions including reviewing near-ready submissions
for their completeness and accuracy in adherence to
application requirements.

Act as
a liaison to ORSP and Research Accounting in matters
of both pre-award and post-award administration, and
assume responsibility for selected grant accounting
activities to be determined with Department Chair and
Office Manager, College of Liberal Arts and Sciences
Dean's office, Office of Research and Sponsored Projects,
and Research Accounting.

With Office
Manager and Chair design and maintain internal coordinating
and tracking systems for research proposal, funded projects,
and faculty scholarship.

Work with
Research and Sponsored projects regarding funding agency
requirements for on-line submission, and review near-ready
submissions for their completeness and accuracy in adherence
to application requirements.

Other
duties as assigned.

Masters
degree desirable.

Must have experience in grant preparation, grant writing,
and grant budget development.

Must demonstrate excellent communication, teamwork, interpersonal,
editing, and writing skills.

Also
desirable are the following: extensive knowledge of federal
funding agencies (e.g., NIH, CDC, NSF) as well as private
foundations; demonstrated familiarity with on-line submission
requirements; Accounting experience.

Academic
degree in psychology or related field also desirable.
Compensation
The
position is at a .50 FTE and will report to the Psychology
Department Manager for the Department of Psychology. The
Manager reports directly to the Department Chair.
Competitive salary commensurate on experience. In
