Position
Summary
The
Division of Public Administration in the Mark O. Hatfield
School of Government at Portland State University is seeking
to fill one tenure/tenure track position at any rank for
the Fall of 2008 to teach at the graduate level in the MPA
and PhD programs, and pursue a scholarly agenda emphasizing
engaged research and program development with community
partners. We seek faculty with expertise in nonprofit management,
policy, philanthropy, governance, leadership, and/or finance,
and the capability to provide leadership for public service
programs such as the existing Institute for Nonprofit Management.
The position will be a full FTE nine-month appointment with
preference for candidates with the capability to generate
enterprise funding through activities that may include contracts,
grants, and self-support programs.

The
position will be expected to engage actively in teaching
in the Division's programs, advising students, participating
in Divisional and institutional governance, and engaging
with community organizations in research and service activities.

Division
of Public Administration
The
Division of Public Administration offers the Master of Public
Administration and the Master of Public Administration:
Health Administration, both accredited by NASPAA. It also
offers the Master of Public Health: Health Management and
Policy as part of the CEPH-accredited Oregon Master of Public
Health program, which is a collaborative effort with Oregon
Health & Science University and Oregon State University
. The Division also participates in the Public Administration
and Policy PhD program. The Division enrolls over 600 masters
and doctoral students, and has a core group of 12 faculty
engaged in teaching, research and service in diverse areas
such as public sector management, health services research,
nonprofit management, civic engagement, natural resources
policy, and leadership development both domestically and
internationally.
The
College of Urban and Public Affairs has approximately 70
full-time faculty. Other schools in the College are the
Nohad A. Toulan School of Urban Studies and Planning, and
the School of Community Health. In addition to Public Administration,
the Mark O. Hatfield School of Government incorporates the
Divisions of Political Science and Criminology and Criminal
Justice. The research and service units within the College
include the Institute on Aging, the Institute of Portland
Metropolitan Studies, the Center for Urban Studies, and
the Center for Population Research and Census.
