OMPH-001 - Director, Oregon Master of Public Health (OMPH) Program/ Assistant Professor - School of Community Health - Fixed-Term

The Oregon Master of Public Health (OMPH) Program invites applications for an experienced leader for the position of Director with the fixed-term rank of Assistant Professor. The successful candidate will direct this accredited collaborative Master of Public Health Program, offered through a partnership of Oregon Health and Science University (OHSU), Oregon State University (OSU), and Portland State University (PSU). The Director will effectively lead the Program toward the fulfillment of the OMPH mission to provide innovative leadership, education, research, and service in public health throughout Oregon, regionally, nationally, and internationally. Description

The Director will provide vision, leadership and administrative oversight for the OMPH Program. Duties include a broad range of responsibilities and roles including program enhancement, policy development, accreditation, and curriculum oversight.

 

The Director serves as a liaison among the three partner universities, faculty, students and the community and represents the program in all interactions with external agencies. The OMPH Program Director reports directly to the OMPH Deans Oversight Council

Required qualifications and characteristics

  • Qualified candidates must have an earned doctorate.
  • Candidates must also have an MPH, related degree, or relevant experience in public health.
  • Candidates must also demonstrate professional experience in, and contributions to, the public health field.
  • The incumbent must be highly organized, with advanced skills in balancing competing priorities.
  • Candidates must also have outstanding written, verbal, organizational, and analytic skills, as well as display strong leadership qualities and demonstrated experience in fostering collaborative and collegial relationships with faculty, students, staff, external stakeholders, and community members.
  • Evidence of and a commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity is required.
  • Travel to partner campuses and to regional and national meetings is required.
  • A minimum of two years experience in academic programs, as well as evidence of administrative experience, is required.

 

Desired qualifications and characteristics

In addition to the required qualifications, it is desirable for candidates to possess experience with:

  • academic program accreditation processes
  • academic program development and curricular design
  • diversity development in academic settings
  • linking the practice of public health with academia
  • mediation and conflict resolution

 

Duration, Rank and Location

This is a 12-month non-tenure-track appointment  at the rank of Assistant Professor with a fixed term contract at .75 FTE; a multiyear contract is negotiable. Opportunities for limited teaching and research are also negotiable.

This position and program office are currently administratively housed at Portland State University; primary faculty appointment and program office location may be negotiated at any one of the three participating universities.

 

Salary

Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications for the rank of Assistant Professor. A competitive compensation package is also offered with excellent benefits, including healthcare, reduced tuition rates, and a generous retirement and vacation package.
