- Fiscal Coordinator - Office of Graduate Studies and Research
Position
Summary
Primary
responsibilities are to coordinate all aspects of the financial
activity of the Office of Graduate Studies and Research.
This position is responsible for analyzing expenditures
and for creating tracking and analysis procedures for a
$7M annual budget.
This
position provides support to the Assistant Vice Provost
for Research Services in administration of inter-disciplinary
and inter-institutional research programs.
Essential
Functions
- Budget and financial
reporting: Takes the lead in budget and financial
reporting for the unit. Develops annual budget for the
unit. Investigates and corrects budgetary and financial
inconsistencies and problems. Creates monthly and annual
financial reports.
- University Centers
and Institutes Support: Develops, reviews,
and/or approves complex multi-year, multi-institution
budgets for UCI units. Develops processes for financial
administration for the units. Reviews and approves purchase
orders, invoices, etc.
- General Accounting:
Prepares journal vouchers and travel reimbursements.
Enters invoices and purchase orders into accounting
system. Creates Letters of Offer, labor distribution
forms and other pay documents. Reconciles books each
month. Serves as point person for yearly closing of
the books for the unit.
- Other Duties:
Creates systems to monitor internal research
and travel awards. Reviews and approves tuition remissions.
Monitors expenses for various programs. Forecasts year-end
balances.
Required
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in
accounting or related field or a combination of coursework
and experience with at least 3 years in accounting
- Strong verbal and written
skills
- Demonstrated ability
to work independently and with a team
- The successful candidate
must successfully complete a criminal background check
Preferred
Qualifications
- Experience using Banner
financial software
- Strong spreadsheet skills
- Experience working in
a Higher Education position
Compensation
The
starting salary rate is $45,000 - $48,000, depending on
experience. In addition, this position includes an excellent
benefits package including fully paid healthcare coverage,
generous retirement and vacation, and reduced tuition rates
at Oregon University System institutions for employee or
one dependent.
