Administration - Executive Leadership Institute - Mark O.
Hatfield School of Government - Tenure Track
The
Division of Public Administration in the Mark O. Hatfield
School of Government at Portland State University is seeking
to fill the Directorship of its Executive Leadership Institute.
The Institute extends the research, service and educational
mission of the School by providing external degree delivery,
applied research, continuing professional training and technical
assistance to public and nonprofit agencies both domestically
and internationally. The Institute is currently undergoing
expansion that could result in renaming and the creation
of a process for affiliation by other institutes located
in the Hatfield School of Government. The Director will
be appointed to a fulltime tenure track position with an
obligation to teach 3 courses per year for the Public Administration
Division. The Director will be expected to continue the
practice of generating sufficient revenue from on-going
Institute-related activities to cover approximately 50%
of his/her personnel costs.
Minimum
Qualifications:
- Demonstrated leadership
capacity to manage a complex array of professional development,
applied research and teaching activities in an academic
setting.
- Expertise in one or more
of the following areas: budgeting, research methods,
finance, public management, ethics, governance models,
leadership, organizational development, political theory
and state and local government, public and/or international
management, sustainable development.
- Earned doctorate in a
relevant discipline.
- Track record of published
scholarship and self-funded activity.
- Demonstrated competence
in teaching graduate students.
- Demonstrated history
of community involvement and collaboration.

Compensation:
Competitive
annual salary plus an excellent benefits package including
