The
Division of Criminology and Criminal Justice in the Mark
O. Hatfield School of Government at Portland State University
is seeking to fill a newly created tenure-track Assistant/Associate
Professor position starting in September 2008.
The
Division of Criminology and Criminal Justice is located
in the Mark O. Hatfield School of Government in the College
of Urban and Public Affairs at Portland State University. The College of Urban and Public Affairs has approximately
70 full-time faculty (www.upa.pdx.edu).
Other schools in the College are the Nohad A. Toulan School
of Urban Studies and Planning and the School of Community
Health. Portland State University
is located in downtown Portland, OR, one of the most livable
cities in the world. Portland metro area boasts thriving
neighborhoods filled with restaurants, shops, galleries,
parks, and access to mountains and the coast. Public transportation
and bike lanes easily connect the campus to the city. The
Division serves 300 undergraduate majors and 25 Master's
students, supports the Criminal Justice Policy Research
Institute, and has a concentration in the Ph.D. in Public

Position
Summary
Research
and teaching specialties are open. The candidate will be
expected to teach at both undergraduate and graduate levels
(including web-based courses), engage in scholarly research
and publication, provide assistance to the community through
professional consulting and volunteer activities, serve
on divisional, school, and university committees.
Minimum
Qualifications
A
Ph.D. in Criminal Justice, Criminology or directly related
fields is desired but applicants that are ABD will be considered.
However, candidates for hire should have their Ph.D. completed
by August 31, 2008. Applicants that have a J.D., as a terminal
degree, will not be considered.
