Portland
State University invites applications for the position of
Assistant Athletic Trainer.
Position
Summary
Assist
in managing the athletic medicine program for (16) intercollegiate
sports at the Division 1 level. Position will require extensive
knowledge and experience in the areas of injury: evaluation,
treatment, rehabilitation, and administration of at Division
1 level program. This position will have Women's Basketball
as its primary responsibility with a secondary sport supervision.
Key
Responsibilities and Performance Standards
-
Acute
and chronic injury evaluation, pre and post-surgical rehabilitation,
injury disposition, therapeutic modalities, and counseling.

Injury
communication for media release and professional sports.
-
Understanding
of NCAA Sports Medicine Guidelines.
-
Ability
to coordinate scheduling of off-campus physician visits,
diagnostic testing and surgical procedure scheduling.
-
Assist
head athletic trainer in staff assignments, staff evaluations,
and student worker scheduling.
-
Knowledge
of differences in medical coverage's of various insurance
policies of student athlete.
-
Ability
to coordinate medical coverage for summer camps.

Primary
sport assignment will be women's basketball. Organize
and supervise home event medical coverage, travel to away
contests, and assist with on-campus recruiting.

Participation
in departmental and University committees as assigned.

Experience
in program administration: physical scheduling, inventory,
and supplies ordering appropriate medical records.

Create
monthly staffing hourly schedule.

Responsible
for coordination of team physician's on-campus office
visits.

Performs
other duties as assigned by the head athletic trainer
Minimum
Qualifications
- Master's
degree required.
- Minimum
of 2 years post National Athletic Trainers Association Board
of Certification with collegiate experience.
- Ability
to meet requirement for registration with the State of Oregon
Health Division.
- Demonstrated
commitment to furthering professional goals by involvement
with professional organizations.
- Commitment
to continuing education in both the areas of professional
knowledge and practical skill application.
- Experience/desire
to teach entry level athletic training course.
- Finalists
must complete a criminal background check.
Preferred
Qualifications
- Experience
with selection and supervision of graduate assistant athletic
trainers.
- Experience
with athletic training at various levels of collegiate competition.
- Experience
with arranging pre-participation and exit physical examinations.
- Understanding
and ability to process insurance claims and medical bills.
- Certification
or ability to obtain certification to teach first aid, CPR
and AED.

Experience in program administration: physical scheduling,
