ATH-008 - Assistant Women's Soccer Coach - Athletics

Portland State University invites applications for the position of Assistant Women's Soccer Coach.

This position is responsible for developing and enhancing a competitive soccer program in the Big Sky Conference. This includes, but is not limited to: coaching; recruiting; monitoring academic progress; managing daily administrative duties of the program; organize and plan practices, participate in program and department fundraising efforts, adhering to all rules and regulations of the university, NCAA, and the Big Sky Conference.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of three years collegiate coaching/club coaching/collegiate competition required.
  • Coaching at the Division I level, experience with coaching women, and west coast/northwest recruiting ties preferred.

Key Responsibilities and Performance Standards

  • Assist in developing, directing, and advancing a competitive women's soccer program.
  • Recruit quality student-athletes.
  • Assist in the organization and planning of practice and competitive strategies.
  • Athletes' skill and physical development.
  • Monitoring student-athletes' academic progress and performance.
  • Leading and motivating student-athletes to maximize their potential.
  • Assist with administrative duties, which may include but is not limited to ordering equipment and supplies, arranging team travel and practice facilities.
  • Enforce team rules.
  • Demonstrate knowledge, understanding, and commitment to compliance with Portland State University, NCAA, and Big Sky policies, rules, and regulations.
  • Demonstrate the knowledge and skills to assist a competitive Division I soccer program. Remain current on all trends, methods, and innovations related to soccer and coaching.
  • Participate in program and departmental fundraising, public relations, and promotional efforts.
  • Work effectively with department support services personnel to enhance the welfare and personal, social, academic, and athletic development of student-athletes.
  • Other duties as assigned.
