Employee Separation Process
Final Pay Procedures
- Know what our legal obligation is when an
employee is leaving our employment. Typically our legal obligation is
to pay the employee their final pay within 48 hours of their final shift.
This can vary from situation to situation, so for information about this

visit the BOLI (Bureau of Labor and Industries) website.
- Send and e-mail to askhrc.pdx.edu to
inform Human Resource of the employee’s last day of work. Approve
the electronic time sheet immediately so final pay can be issued.
- Human Resources will check BANNER to see
if the student employee has other positions on campus. If he or she does
(or if you know that they will in the very near future) then no term
pay will be issued. If, however, all jobs are ended or ending, then final
pay will be issued within 48 hours. Human Resources will advise you as
to when the check will be available to the employee.
- Please let Human Resources know if the employee
will be leaving the city/state/country and needs his or her check by
a certain day or time.
