Employee
Classified positions
are those represented by the SEIU Local 503, OPEU. They generally
include such positions as office support, technical support,
trades and maintenance.
Temporary positions
are filled for the purpose of meeting
emergency, nonrecurring or short-term workload. Employment is generally
limited to no
more than 1,040 hours in a twelve-month
period.
Full-Time
Unclassified Employee
Academic
Faculty are positions that teach,
conduct research or provide public
service and hold academic rank. Appointments
authorized
for faculty are either fixed-term or
tenure-related. These
positions are represented by the American
Association of University
Professors (AAUP) and
annualize at .50 FTE or greater.
Academic
Professionals are Advisor/Counselors,
Program Administrators, Instructional
Specialists, Educational Technology
Specialists
and Health Professionals represented
by AAUP.
Unclassified
Unrepresented Employees are professional
staff that are not ranked nor hold
tenure.
Unclassified
Excluded Employees are professional staff in academically
represented areas. These positions are excluded from
the bargaining unit due to managerial,
confidential or
supervisory
duties.
Employees
with Unclassified Wage Agreements perform
irregular services (i.e. non-credit instruction, consulting,
short-term
research,
etc.) for the University,
usually over a short period of time or on a one-time basis.
Part-Time
Unclassified Employee
Part-Time
Faculty are
part-time employees hired for their particular skills in assisting
PSU to carry forward its teaching,
research, or service commitments. These position are represented
by the PSUFA-AFT and annualize at below .50
FTE.
Student
Employee
Workstudy & Student
Regular Wage positions require undergraduates enrollment
in at least 6 credit hours or graduate enrollment in at least
5 credit hours. There are two types of student jobs, work-study
and regular wage. Student
Regular Wage positions are available to all students who
meet the above criteria. Workstudy positions require
a workstudy award from the Financial Aid Office.
Graduate
Assistant positions require Graduate
Admission status and must maintain good academic
standing in a graduate degree program at PSU. They must
satisfactorily complete a minimum
of 9 graduate credits each term the assistantship is in effect,
except Summer Term, with term and cumulative GPAs of 3.00 or
higher.
