Credit
Union
All
University employees and their family members are eligible
for membership at OnPoint Union. OnPoint offers savings, checking,
IRA's and a wide variety of low-cost loans, including auto
loans, Visa credit cards, home equity loans and mortgages.
Direct deposit, payroll deduction, and three free on-campus
cash machines, offer added convenience.
For more information, call OnPoint at (503) 228-7077; (800)
527-3932. You can also visit them on-line at ONPOINT.
Direct
Deposit
Employees
may elect to have their paychecks deposited directly into
a checking or savings account at most banks or credit unions.
Earnings statements for all direct deposits will be sent through
campus mail to the employee's home department or picked up
by an authorized department representative on payday. Employees
may make arrangements for this service by visiting the Human
Resources Office or by downloading the Direct
Deposit Authorization Form and sending it to HRC.
Getting
to Work (Parking and Alternate Transportation)
Parking
All members of the University community are encouraged to
take advantage of alternative modes of transportation at every
opportunity. However, those who do use University parking
lots must purchase and correctly display the proper parking
permit. Using such parking facilities without displaying a
valid parking permit will result in a fine. University parking
regulations are enforced by the Office of Transportation and
Parking and the Portland city police. Parking permits may
be purchased at the Office of Transportation and Parking,
which provides maps and brochures describing transportation
information and types and costs of permits available. Questions
regarding alternative transportation, parking permits, regulations,
and citations should be directed to the Office
of Transportation and Parking.
Public
Transportation
Many staff and faculty find riding the bus and light rail
the most convenient and economical means of transportation
to and from Portland State. The PSU area is served by several
Tri-Met buses, Portland Streetcar and, from the Vancouver,
Washington area, the C-Tran bus system. Although Tri-Met's
Metropolitan Area Express (MAX) Light Rail system does not
stop on the PSU campus, there are several stops with direct
connections.
Transit
passengers can ride any bus, MAX train and/or Streetcar free
within the downtown "Fareless Square" area, which
includes the entire Portland State campus. Both Tri-Met and
C-Tran provide "Park-and-Ride" locations in suburban
areas, so that students, staff and faculty can park their
cars and take buses to the University.
Identification
Cards
To obtain an identification card, newly appointed employees
need to go to the Office of Human Resources to complete
thier
new hire paperwork and receive their validation sticker and
ID memo. They should take this memo to the ID booth
in the lobby of Neuberger Hall. It is open Monday
through Thursday from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm and Friday
from 9:00 am to
5:00 pm. The ID window will charge $6 to take a photo
plus $6 to print a card ($12 total, or only $6 if they already
have a photo on file). You must have a PSU ID card to enter
some buildings and use
the Library and Recreation Facilities.
Internet
Access
University employees are eligible to use, subject to the
University's Acceptable Use Policy, PSU email, world
wide web, and a host
of other activities. Employees who wish to access the Internet
from home can dial into the University's pool using
the number
503-327-0200. A wide range of consulting support and helpful
documents are also available. For more information,
see Faculty
& Staff Technology Services.
Library
Employees have full access to the Portland State University
Library System services and collections. These include borrowing
privileges for the employees, reference and research assistance,
access to computers, and instructional programs. For more
information, see Library
Services.
Recreation
Facilities
The Peter W. Stott Center (PSC) offers a wide variety of recreational
opportunities to the university community. Faculty/Staff and
their Guests are welcome to use the facility as a recreational
resource. For more information, see Recreation
Facilities.
